FUTURE FRAMERS BOARD
William J Mackwood is Co-Artistic Director of the innovative, multi-disciplinary company, Out of the Box Productions. Over the last twenty years, alongside Gwenyth Dobie, he has co-created and/or led the design team for productions of A Criminal Waste of Time, Opera Erotique, The Third Taboo, Prior Engagement, Sound in Silence, Bugzzz~ a cautionary tale and Rallentando.
William recently retired from faculty at York University, where he served as Graduate Program Director for the MFA in Dance program, taught 'Dance Production', 'Lighting Design for Dance' and 'The Interactive Stage'. William's research continues to pursue a rigorous investigation of digital-based visual design, with a focus on developing and illuminating ‘emerging interactive modalities’. As a designer William focuses on lighting and projection design in support of live performance.
Gwenyth and William are currently running an Artist Residency on Salt Spring Island, where they built a fully equipped performance studio with a mandate to develop new works. They are currently entering their fourth season. William is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada.
